New to the Maybelline cosmetics market it their tattoo studio waterproof brow gel. They also released a brow tattoo tint, which I had no luck finding in Canadian stores. The improved quality and wear of these product types are leaving me astounded year after year. This brow gel has the staying power of two days and the pigmentation does truly improve the colouring of your brows. Vacationers REJOICE no more having to apply brow products every single morning, or worrying about your brows dripping off when swimming. This proved to me to be a wonder product that I now could not imagine vacationing without.
The brow gel is available in four shades
The dome applicator made the middle part of the brow easy to fill and follow the guide of your own brow, the head and tail was a different story. My personal opinion is the dome needs to be a bit small to control the details at the head of the brow and a narrow tail. Though not impossible to do, it did require alot of focus and a steady hand to master the fill in these areas. Once applied I instantly saw an improvement of colour and shape of my brow. I waited about 3-4 minutes for the gel to set before brushing my finger back and forth. This proved to have no transfer on my finger or above and under my brows, everything stayed in place. Next was the cotton pad test which did reveal a slight bit of transfer, my best advice is wait about 10-15 minutes for it to fully set.
Later that night I did my nightly skincare routine including washing my face for a water test. My brows looked freshly done after patting my face dry with a towel. Now I was half expecting to see brown colour running off my brows down my face, but there was nothing. The next morning I breezed threw my makeup not needing to re touch my brows. They lasted all day and only faded a bit when I proceeded to remove my makeup that night. The gel lasts the two days they advertised but no longer.
Maybelline now has myself as a committed buyer of this brow gel, as well as holding my interest in the brow tint if it ever releases in Canadian stores. You can watch below my Youtube first impressions to see this product in action.
Good afternoon beauties, this is my first in depth product review. Now this review is based on my personal experience with the product and research. As with any review I will do I recommend everyone to do their own research and think for themselves always. These are just the starting blocks to take into account.
The mask that I purchased is the Purifying & Mattifying 3 mineral clays & Eucalyptus from the pure clay mask collection. My skin type is sensitive, acne combination, which recently has whacked out to hormonal acne. I used this mask prior to the inflammation that I have now which is being treated by a dermatologist. In no way do I think this masked caused that, it's more internal and diet restrictions as I found out. Though I do not think this mask helped the moderate acne and sensitivity that I had. Continue reading for why I believe that is....
The claims on the packaging are
The first claim I find to be false, due to the intense burning and irritation of this mask when left on for the instructional time. When I rinsed it off my face was red as a tomato, not a pleasant experience from a face mask; sensitive skin types beware. I was curious as to why I had such a stinging sensation which is why I researched the ingredients (below I have included small information from my research findings). I have also red coloured the Moroccan lava clay due to it's location on the ingredients list ( 5th from the bottom) but it's used in the advertising hook of 3 clays. Though the clay is in the product the actual amount is low, general rule is the ingredients closest to the top are the most abundant, as you read on the last ingredients are the least used. It was disappointing to see an actual beneficial ingredient pushed beneath so many dyes, fragrances, binders , preservatives and overall irritants. I will also state here the smell of this mask is so potent like a grandmothers rancid perfume, as you continue reading you will see where this smell is coming from. Another red flag for sensitive/ allergy skin.
Curious about some of the stand out ingredients and their functions?
Kaolin Clay - sourced from soils in hot moist climates such as the tropical rain forest that are formed from the chemical breakdown of the rocks. The clay helps to slow down the production of sebum (this mask does dry out the skin). Due to the presents of silica it will remove dead skin cells and detoxify the skin. I would recommend buying this in the 100% pure and natural clay powder over this Loreal mask. Sold on Amazon ➤www.amazon.ca/Kaolin-White-Superfine-British-Clay
Montmorillonite Clay - mineral found in tiny crystals that group together to form clay. The most I can say for this clay when topically applied is it will attach to bacteria and remove it from the skin surface. The majority of information on this clay is for digestive healing when taken orally. It's also a ingredient in some dog and cat foods, this made me raise an eyebrow.
Lechin- comes from soybeans and has a high essential fatty acid content to moisturize the skin
Polysorbate 20- an emulsifier used as a fragrance ingredient
Butylene & Propylene Glycol- small organic alcohol used as a solvent, skin conditioning and fragrance ingredient potentially an irritant
Oryza Sativa Starch- made from rice and is used as an absorbent
Chlorphenesin- synthetic preservative that's banned in Japan cosmetics. Studies done have given evidence it causes irritation and contact dermatitis on some people with sensitive dry skin. FDA warns pregnant/ nursing women and small children to stay away from products containing this ingredient, due to depress of the central nervous system and causing respiratory depression in infants.
CI 61570- culprit of the cyanne green colour of the mask
Citronellol- scent ingredient pulled from lemongrass, geranium and rose used to mask odours. On Paula's choice skincare this ingredient has a poor rating and possible risks of being an allergen.
Coumarn- natural occuring plant extract and antioxidant that's a synthetically produced scent chemical. Has been linked to allergies and contact dermatitis.
Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract- relatively safe ingredient coming from the leaves of a eucalyptus, used as a skin conditioning agent. Known to be a skin sensitizer it may not be the best option for sensitive skin, but it does open up the pores like a vapour. Unfortunately this is the 17th ingredient down the list making it not so abundant.
Geraniol- naturally occuring plant oil scent ingredient found in essential oils like rose & citronella. Besides being a known allergen it's also marked as an environmental toxin on Environment Canada Domestic Substance List.
Methylparaben- your own research is encouraged with this ingredient being thats it's from the paraben family. Many articles claim this cancer causing, but you can be your own judge on that.
Linking some articles
Moroccan Lava Clay - the 5th from the bottom ingredient that may have a very low content in this mask. I think I need to look into buying just a jar of this clay thats mined in the Atlas Mountains in Eastern Morocco. It helps treat dehydrated sensitive skin while building the elasticity of the skin and reducing large pores. Sounds pretty amazing right? Let us just all bath in that clay. They sell it on Amazon and I will link it here. www.amazon.ca/Rhassoul-Ghassoul-Morrocan-Lava-
Once looking into all these ingredients I can see why my skin burned so much after application. So many fragrances and irritants are jammed into this one tiny jar. I'm not ignorant in thinking that all the cosmetics and skincare that I use don't have some of these ingredients, they must. I'm just now becoming more aware and trust me a cosmetics clean out will be happening. I hope this review was helpful and brought you some new insights as it did me on this product.

This pallet is such a great idea for beauty lovers who want to condense their collection. It's easier to store and reach for, than having all these eye shadows in individual containers bought separately. When I first got it I was trying to come up with ways to organize it by colour, making it easier to tell people the exact colour I'm using. This is what I came up with as the solution.
The first 15 sided colours are what I like to refer to as my bridal side. I used price or page # stickers on the acrylic divider. As I was placing them in the slots I wrote down each colour's name, placed how you see the pallet rows. Crystal avalanche on the top row era on the bottom row and so forth.
I did the same steps to the side I refer to as Colourful, used more for making eye colours pop. I find this is the easiest way to organize this pallet. If you run out of a colour, you know exactly what one it was you need to re order.
The M.A.C. Pallet does have a high cost to it, but it's worth the investment. If you are serious enough about make up artistry or travel a lot for this work, you need a pallet that's easy to travel with. Also that has variety for any look you may be asked to create. I'm in the process of saving for an all Matte pallet to create many different looks. Since you customize this pallet the possibilities are endless. Shop for it www.maccosmetics.com - M.A.C. Let me first start out by saying I love these lipstains. I was immediately attracted to them on the shelf because of the colour range. Next I flipped it over because I love reading the names they come up with. I was excited they themed them off of Countries and Cities. Being a city girl and all I instantly fell in love. Now down to the nitty gritty, the colours hold true to the package colour. The only one I found that didn't was NEW YORK SCENE I thought it would be a bit darker. They lasted from 9:00am - 6:00pm for me, I ate a small lunch in between and the colour lived through it. They are not sticky at all, more creamy and glide on easily. Great by for a drugstore product! here are my swatches done in 2 coats.
